Being Attacked

If you feel like you are being attacked or surrounded by overwhelming things, you are not alone. I have said this before and will probably continue to repeat; but God sees everything.  He is aware of what is going on in your life. He knows the source of the attacks, why you are being attacked, and how much you can endure.  YOU may think you can’t overcome, but you can through God’s strength.

Like it or not, you are in a war.  The Bible is very clear about being in a war, but most of us fail to realize it is a different kind of war.  It is a spiritual war.  There are spiritual forces who are against you because they are against God and God’s plan for this earth.  These spiritual forces (known as demonic angels) know they are no match against God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, or anything that comes from Heaven. If you are one of those who don’t believe that Satan and demons exist, then you are already deceived.  The Bible states that Satan’s goal is to blind your mind so that you don’t see the truth. (2 Corinthians 4:4)

The next strategy in their attack is towards the people who live on this earth.  If you can’t win against God and the Heavenly hosts, then attack His creation on the earth.

Here are some things to give you strength and encourage you:

Why are Satan and Demons attacking me?

You may not realize this, but Satan and Demons hate you!  They hate you with severe passion for a couple of reasons.  The number one reason why they hate you is because You were created in the Image of God.  (Genesis 1:26).  When Satan and demons see you, they don’t see your physical form.  They see your spirit and know it looks like the same God substance.  When they see you, they see the image of God, and it bothers them tremendously.

Another reason why they attack you is because they know God has a plan for His Kingdom to eventually take place on this earth.  Remember when Jesus told us to pray this way, “…your Kingdom come, your Will be done on this earth as it is in Heaven.” (Matthew 6:10)  . John the Baptist was preaching everywhere, saying, “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at Hand.” (Matthew 3:2) When Jesus sent out His Twelve Disciples to the towns healing the sick and casting out demons, He told them to preach the Kingdom of God. (Luke 9:1,2)

The phrase “Kingdom of God” is mentioned 105 times in the Bible.  I’m not trying to sugarcoat the words in this blog, but here are the facts: God is going to correct every wrongdoing on this earth, He will establish His Kingdom, and if you are not part of it, you will be seriously wishing you were.  Here is what Jesus said:

Luke 13:28 (NKJV) “There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out.”

A thief does not attack an empty house!

Demons are attacking you because YOU are valuable to God, and you are a potential threat to demonic forces attacking you.  Demons are trying to prevent as many humans as possible from hearing the Gospel, taking charge of preaching the Gospel, and doing God’s Will on this earth.

Distractions

Distractions come from everywhere.  They come from people, circumstances, and from within you.  If a demon can distract you from God’s goals and objectives for your life, then they have won.  Would you believe that while writing this blog, I said to myself, “Let me drop a load of clothes in the washing machine?” You know, to multitask to be more efficient with “my time”.  As soon as I stopped and placed a load of clothes in the washing machine, my mind drifted over to cleaning the bathroom. Then I saw other stuff that needed cleaning, and I started thinking about making a list of things I needed to get done today, etc. Do you see where I’m going? I got distracted for 30 minutes when I could have been writing this blog to get the message out.

How do I know if I’m being attacked by a demon? The answer is simple.  Demons want you to focus ONLY on yourself.  If your thoughts and actions only cater to what YOU need to get done and what makes YOU happy, then you are distracted away from God’s Will and His plans.

Jesus told this story:

Luke 14:16-20 “Jesus replied with this story: “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, ‘Come, the banquet is ready.’ But they all began making excuses. One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’ Another said, I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’  Another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.”

Do you see the list of excuses?  The great feast represents a time when we will have fellowship and dinner with God in His Kingdom.  He is sending out His invitation to everyone to be part of His Kingdom, but we reject His invitation due to our excuses.  Each excuse is centered around self. I have to do this, I have to do that, “I”, “I”, “I”.

Demons want you to live a cavalier lifestyle.  They want you to be dismissive and disdainful about important matters or people.  You are careless, unconcerned, or high-handed, showing little regard for the feelings or well-being of others.  Being cavalier is also associated with the rich and famous, who are gallant and debonair, with a free spirit centered only around themselves.

Jesus wants all of you.  Seek first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and everything you desire will be added to you.

You are not powerless

Jesus did not leave you hopeless without anything to fight back against demons in this Spiritual Warfare.  We have an arsenal of weapons at our fingertips to defeat the enemy whenever we know how to use them.

2 Corinthians 10:4 (NKJV) “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”

The enemy wants to hold, restrict, and bind you so that you are ineffective, unproductive, and of no value to spreading God’s message.  That is why we need spiritual weapons to break the strongholds, to break the chains, and to break whatever is binding us.

  • 1 John 4:4 (NKJV) Greater is He who is in you than he that is in the world.
  • James 4:7 (NKJV) “Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

How do you resist the devil?

  • Speak God’s Word in Faith – You must read and know scripture.  Then, speak out loud the scriptures.
  • Psalm 103:20 – God’s Angels listen to His Word and excel in strength.  God’s Angels are waiting for YOU to speak God’s Words so they can take action!
  • Revelation 12:11 – They overcame him by the blood of the lamb (Jesus) and the Word of their testimony.

Ask for Help

You are not alone.  You are never alone when you ask God for help.  Jesus personally said that He will leave a comforter to help us.  God wants us to pray to Him and continue in prayer.  Demons never get tired, nor do they sleep.  So, we need to be vigilant in staying close to God through prayer.  When we ask God for help, He answers.

  • Psalm 34:4 (NLT) “I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.”
  • James 1:5 (NKJV) “If anyone lacks Wisdom, let him ask of God who gives liberally without reproach.”

Psalm 34:19 (NKJV) “Many are the afflictions of the righteous,

  • But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”

Also, seek help from other Christian believers.  All warriors get tired and may fall at times.  Every Christian believer needs to be sensitive to others who need prayer and be humble to ask for prayer when we need it.

James 5:16 (NLT) “…The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

Jesus didn’t hide the truth from His disciples, nor does He hide the truth from anyone.  Jesus was truthful in saying that we will undergo a lot of struggles in life.  But He didn’t leave us without help.  Consider a marathon runner.  At strategic locations along the journey, there are water stations to help you.  Jesus has more than water stations to help you along the way.  Jesus can give you water so that you will never thirst again.  Jesus is the bread of life.  Jesus is the lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path. He shows you the way out of the obstacles you encounter.  If God isn’t removing the tribulation and attacks from you, it means He wants you to trust Him while He guides you THROUGH the battles.  God promises that your struggles and suffering will all be restored.  He is building you up for greater things planned for you.

John 16:33 (NKJV) These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Be Blessed!
