God’s Mercy Is Forever

Psalm 136:1 (NKJV) “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”

King David was a master at writing songs.  This song was a summary and reminder of how good God is.  David reflects on his history and how God rescued the children of Israel from the tyranny of the Pharaoh of Egypt.  Then parted the Red Sea to allow them to walk on dry land.  God created the Heavenly lights (stars), the star that dominates the day with light (the sun), and the light that shines at night (the moon).  With every clause, there are the words, ‘For His mercy endures forever,’ that follow.

If you are struggling with feeling down, hopeless, anxious, or even depressed, then you need to remember the things that God has done for you.  I am not saying that bad things will never occur.  I am saying that you have a choice to focus on the one who is greater than any problem that you will ever encounter.  Or you can focus on your own abilities and stay in a state of hopelessness.

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NLT) “So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”

To bring this into perspective, looking at things that cannot be seen is using your faith.  Faith provides the substance, which is your evidence of things you can’t see.

Learn to worship the Lord.  It is the best thing to fight against hopelessness.  God’s mercy (Strong’s Concordance H2617: Hesed – Kindness) lasts forever.  Remember, it is not always about how you feel.  It is about what you know in God’s Word.

Be Blessed!
