Abundant Life

John 10:10 (Amplified) “… I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]!”

I don’t know about you, but when I read this scripture, I think about the abundant life.  I recently learned that if I’m supposed to be living an abundant life, why am I not living that type of life?  Have you asked God the same question?  Maybe your prayers are like this: “Lord, your scriptures say that you have given me the power and the ability to obtain wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18).  So I’m asking you now for wealth to come!”  Ever prayed that prayer?  Ok, for those of you who are saying “No, I haven’t prayed that kind of prayer.” Some of you are praying this: “Lord, please let me hit the lottery!  I promise to give some of it back to my church.”  Same thing!

Let me ask another question.  Have you considered that God’s abundant life for you may be different that your definition of an abundant life? The Greek word for Abundant is Perissos (Strong’s Concordance (G4012), which means exceeding a measure or number.  Or something further.  Most of you are thinking of Rolls Royce Cars, 10,000 square foot mansions, etc.  But how abundance is used is referencing to your enjoyment of life that is more than what you have not.  Don’t misunderstand that God doesn’t mind you having monetary wealth, if your love of money doesn’t come between you and Him.  People easily worship money like an idol.  God will give you ideas and the ability to make money, then He will put people and resources in your path that allows money to flow in your direction.  But God isn’t going to print money, and place it in a bag, then deliver it to your front porch.  You must make an effort to work in God’s plan and His purpose for you.

God wants you to have a rich, full, blessed, prosperous life on this earth.  Following Him and His guidance is a dress rehearsal for eternity with Him.  Ask God what He wants you to do.  If you are unhappy, perhaps you are struggling with trying to find happiness on your own.  God’s way is so much better.

Be Blessed
