Follow God’s Advice
Proverbs 7:1-3 (NLT) “Follow my advice, my son; always treasure my commands. 2 Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes.3 Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.”
Can you imagine having the wisdom that King Solomon has, having deep insight and understanding of practically everything? God personally visited King Solomon, and Solomon asked for discernment so that he could lead the children of Israel. And God gave Solomon a massive download of Wisdom. His wisdom was so popular that other kings traveled for miles to hear Solomon’s wisdom.
Now you can understand Solomon’s plea to everyone to listen and obey God’s commands. God’s commands are so precise, full of intent, that we should guard them as sacred. To those who struggle to remember God’s commands, write them down and tie them to your finger as a reminder. Do whatever you can to get God’s command deep within your spirit. As Christians, we should naturally be willing and able to walk daily in God’s will, not our own.
So how do you treasure God’s commands? To treasure something means to place value on the object or words that are said. If a billionaire told you that they wanted to share with you the secrets to becoming mega wealthy, some of you would not only have a paper and something to write with, but you would use your cell phone video camera to record a video of everything that is said so that you don’t miss anything. When they were done, you would play the recording over and over, stopping every so often to make sure what was said sank in until you completely understood everything. That is what God wants from you. When God gives us advice, it is for our benefit alone. Not His. God’s advice will bless you beyond measure.
Cherish God’s Word. Then obey God’s Word. You will be so glad that you did.
