He Restores My Soul
Psalm 23:3 (NKJV): “He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.”
Have you ever felt so down and ashamed that you couldn’t even pray? Or have you made so many mistakes in your past that your mind keeps replaying them, and you’ve convinced yourself there is no hope of moving forward? Satan is a master at lying and deceiving people. Jesus said he was the father and originator of all lies.
Satan will never approach you with something blatant to cause you to sin. First is the slight presentation with the thought of, “There is no way you will succumb to this.” Next, he will present the same situation as something pleasing to you to create desire. After many days of repeating the same suggestion, you finally give in. Now, he immediately becomes your adversary by saying, “How could you! You have committed a horrible sin. God will never forget this! How will you face your family and friends? Oh, the embarrassment!” Satan is known as the Accuser. (Revelation 12:10) Satan loves to bait you with something that looks and feels so good. But when you indulge, he accuses you of the crime.
The reason why Satan wants you to feel guilt, shame, and despair is so that you won’t come to God to receive forgiveness, mercy, and grace. Satan wants you to be an ineffective Christian in the body of Christ. He doesn’t want you to fulfill God’s purpose for your life. But God is anxious and ready to forgive you because Jesus has already paid the penalty for sin. I am not saying you can sin freely without consequences. (Romans 6:1) If you ask God to forgive you, and you have repented, then God has dealt with your sin. But we are still flooded with the accuser’s thoughts trying to make us feel ashamed. That is when you go to God!
God can restore your mind and your soul. Speak God’s Word over yourself; resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7) Yes, he will return later and bring the same thoughts of guilt and shame back into your mind. But say out loud again, “Devil, God loves me, and He has already forgiven me for my sins. And no weapon formed against me will ever prosper! I am the righteousness of Christ!” The more you speak God’s Word when those thoughts come to mind, the longer the return periods will be until you no longer feel guilty or ashamed. God will restore your soul and your mind through His Word. Oh yeah, spend time worshiping Him. In His presence, there is fullness of joy! (Psalm 16:11)
Be Blessed!
