Walk By Faith

2 Corinthians 5:7 (NLT): “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

2 Kings 6:8-18 tells how the Syrian Army surrounded Elisha and his servant.  One morning, the servant went out and saw the city surrounded by Syrian chariots.  The servant panicked and ran to Elisha, telling him the horrible news.  But Elisha calmly told the servant not to fear because there were more with them than those who you see.  Then Elisha prayed to God, saying, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.”  Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he saw the heavenly horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha on the mountains.

The most important thing to understand is that the servant’s eyes were already opened.  What he originally saw is what frightened him. So there must be something else that he couldn’t see or wasn’t using.  God opened the servant’s spiritual eyes.  Yes, you have spiritual eyes, spiritual ears, and can speak a spiritual language.  Faith is the key that opens the door to things in the spirit.

  • The Eye of Faith – allows you to see what is already present in the spirit. Your natural eyes can’t see in the spirit.
  • The Ear of Faith – allows you to hear God’s voice.
  • The Speech of Faith – allows you to call things that are not as though they were.  (Romans 4:17) It also lets you speak to the mountains, and they will move. (Matthew 17:20)

As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit living inside us, but most of the time, we don’t hear His voice, nor do we see the spiritual things we should normally see.  At best, we ask God to do things for us, and if nothing happens, we say God didn’t do it.  Have you ever considered that God is waiting on you?  Jesus said very clearly, “Anyone who believes will do the same things I have done, and even greater works, because I go to my Father.” (John 14:12, NLT) God sent Jesus to destroy and defeat the enemy.  When the woman with the issue of blood touched Jesus’ garment, she was healed.  What did Jesus say?  He said, “He felt the healing power leave His body.  And your faith has made you well!”

If you are struggling with how to walk by faith, ask yourself this question: Do I believe the Bible?  If you said yes, then you are halfway there.  Believing and trusting in God’s Word solidifies your faith in Him.  So walking in faith means knowing, believing, and acting on the Truth of God’s Word for your life.

Be Blessed!
