The Authority of Jesus Christ
Ephesians 1:22 (NLT): “God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.”
When I was a child, I used to sing a Sunday School song called “He’s got the whole world in His hands.” When I got older, most of the senior Christians folks would tell me, “Don’t worry about it! God is in control!” Now I’m the one telling others, “God’s got this.”
God did something phenomenal that is beyond contemplation. Everything is under the authority of Jesus Christ. Jesus is not a manager over earth. God made everything under the authority of Jesus Christ. That is why when Jesus returns, He will wear a garment with the title of King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Since Jesus has full authority over everything, you can boldly go to Him for your needs.
Hebrews 4:16 (Amplified): “Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].”
Are you beginning to understand why we end our prayers saying, “In Jesus’ name, Amen!” When you pray to God the Father, you make your requests known, and by saying “In Jesus’ name,” you are requesting by the authority of Jesus Christ. That is why in the previous scripture, Jesus says You can ask anything in my name, and I will do it. (John 14:14) But the caveat is that you must ask in accordance with His Will.
1 John 5:14 (NKJV): “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
God is giving you a Titanium-Platinum Card you can use to ask for anything, but it only works if Jesus signs the transaction. He will only sign what He has already endorsed, which is defined in His Will.
Spend time finding out His Will. Ask Him to show you. Ask Him how to obey Him. What do you need to give up? What do you need to start doing? Get serious in desiring to know His Will. When you desire His Will more than you desire what you want, then He gives you what you want on top of your obedience to him.
Be Blessed!
