Wisdom is the Principal Thing
Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV) “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”
Have you ever been surrounded by so many decisions that need to be made, but you don’t know which decision to choose first? Or how about deciding on one particular thing, but you are unsure which direction to choose? Some folks ask a friend, others ask their family. Some may even seek advice from a counselor or a Pastor at Church. None of those choices is wrong if you know that the individual will not lead you into a decision that is contrary to what God’s Word says, or that they only tell you what you want to hear.
There are times when you need to make a hard decision on your own. This could be life-changing, starting or ending a new chapter in your life. The question is, “…how do you know you made the right decision?” The answer is Wisdom. Wisdom is not knowledge. Wisdom is knowing what to do with knowledge. In other words, how to apply knowledge to solve a problem or guide you in the direction you want to go.
Did you know there are two kinds of Wisdom? There is Man’s Wisdom and God’s Wisdom. Man’s wisdom only comes from experience through your mistakes, learning from those mistakes, then taking a different action based on what you learned. You can also gain wisdom by observing and learning from others’ mistakes. In both cases, Man’s wisdom comes from experience, which comes through making mistakes. We sometimes call it trial and error.
God’s Wisdom is a little different. God’s wisdom provides insight, revelation, understanding, and knowledge on things that you previously knew nothing about. In other words, when you ask God for wisdom in making a decision, He gives you the full package on the situation. You just know what to do, and you didn’t conjure it up on your own. “So how do I know that I’m using God’s wisdom?” Here is the answer:
- Proverbs 3:13 (NKJV) “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding…”
- Proverbs 3:17 (NKJV) “Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.”
When you are using God’s Wisdom, you are happy, there is pleasantness, and you have inner peace. When you need to make any decision in your life, ask God for His Wisdom first. When God gives you the answer, you will have peace in your spirit. If you are struggling with anxiety, it means you are still trying to figure it out and work it out on your own, without God. Get God’s Wisdom and get God’s understanding! You will be so glad that you did.
Be Blessed!
