Made Right In God’s Sight
Romans 5:1 (NLT) “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peacewith God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.”
Christianity to non-believers is too far-fetched and difficult for them to understand. How can all your sins be forgiven just by believing and having faith in a man named Jesus? We are used to doing some work or earning our way to be declared good enough or righteous enough. It is as if we are telling God, “I know I’ve done some bad things in my life, but I turned my life around. I’m a good person. And as you can see, my good deeds outweigh the bad. So, I should be allowed to enter heaven.”
Here is the problem as God sees it. The price you must pay for sin is death, which is eternal separation from God. (Romans 6:23) There are no statutes of limitations when it comes to sin. If you have ever committed ONE sin in your entire life, then you must pay for it with death. It doesn’t matter how many good deeds you have done. You could have done 100 million good deeds in your entire lifetime. Just one sin separates you from God. God knew this, and the enemy knew this. But God loved man so very much that He came up with a plan.
God needed a proxy to take our place for our punishment. The sin of humanity had to be placed on Jesus so that God could place His judgment on sin once and for all. Remember, Jesus committed no personal sin by his own choice or in any form of action. The sin that was placed on Him was our sin. After Jesus died and paid for our sin, God raised Him from the grave. If Jesus committed a personal sin, then He would have stayed in torment in Hell to pay for HIS sin.
The second part of Romans 6:23 tells the good news, “…but the gift of God is eternal life, through our Lord Jesus Christ.” When you accept God’s free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, you become righteous, and you use faith to accept that righteousness. All other religions require good works to hope you are good enough to enter the next life of happiness. People will say, “I hope I’m accepted in heaven. Or, I hope I’m good enough to get into heaven.” But the real answer is, they don’t know. They have no assurance in knowing without a doubt that they will enter heaven. Jesus said this:
John 10:28 (NLT) “ I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me.”
That is the Gospel. That is Salvation. And that is the difference between Christianity and other religions. You can have salvation NOW with the confidence and assurance that you will have eternal life now. And that confidence and assurance come from faith in what Jesus did for us.
Be Blessed!
