Faith Comes By Hearing
Romans 10:17 (Amplified) “So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).”
Have you ever noticed that your faith in God may not be as strong as others? Come on…you know I’m telling the truth! Why else do we get in prayer lines at Church, or call someone we know who is a prayer warrior? The Bible is very clear about how faith comes upon you. Faith only comes from hearing the word of God. If your ears need to hear the Word of God, that means someone needs to speak it.
Notice that it didn’t say Faith comes from prayer and through more prayer. Faith doesn’t come from singing, shouting, dancing, or even fasting. Faith comes by hearing God’s Word. To be clear, your faith grows stronger when you endure and overcome trials and temptations. Remember this: Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit, but after He suffered 40 days and 40 nights of fasting and Satan’s temptations, Angels ministered to Him, and He came out of the wilderness by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Luke 4:1 (NLT) “Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness…”
- Luke 4:14 (NLT) “Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power.”
If you lack faith, ask God to guide you in the right direction, where you can hear a message for your need. You can find good messages streamed from websites. But make sure it is from a person who is authentically preaching directly from the Bible. There are also audio versions of the Bible. You can also find them online or in Christian bookstores. When I don’t have those two options available, I open my Bible, find a scripture in the area where I need faith, and read it aloud so my own ears can hear.
- When you hear the Word of God, Faith comes.
- When you believe what you heard, Faith becomes part of you.
- When you receive Faith, it enters your spirit.
- When you are led by the Holy Spirit, Faith becomes your evidence in whatever you believe you have received. (Mark 11:24)
Hearing the Word of God is the whole reason why you need to be at Church or hear it in some form or fashion. Christians are wondering why they are struggling, but they still say they read their Bible. Faith doesn’t come by reading. It comes only by hearing the Word of God.
