Godly Words
Proverbs 10:32 (NLT) “The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words.”
When you are around different people, do you feel uplifted or drained? Do you look forward to talking to people that you know, or dread talking to the people that you know? There is a basic reason for whatever answer you have. The words people speak directly influence your emotions and spirit. Most people say, “…Nothing bothers me because I know how they are.” Even if you know how they are, words affect you, how you think, and how you feel.
People either:
- Add to your life
- Subtract from your life
- Multiply your life, or
- Divide your life
And it all starts with the words they are saying.
If you are wondering why things aren’t positive in your life, check what you are listening to. Have you carefully listened to your favorite songs? Are you watching the news early in the morning before work and the last thing you see before bedtime? Maybe that is the source of the negative things feeding your spirit and mind.
Remember, you are responsible for guarding your spirit. For out of your spirit flow the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23) Do your best to speak life and positive things to others. Life and death are in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21) Your words will either build someone up or tear them down. Be mindful of everything you say.
