Is God In This?
Acts 5:39 (Amplified) “But if it is of God [and it appears that it is], you will not be able to stop them; or else you may even be found fighting against God!”
To really understand the context of this Scripture, you must read all of Acts 5:17-41. The Apostles were on trial for preaching the Gospel in the Temple. After they were thrown in jail, an Angel came at night, opened the gates, and released them. The leading priests and Temple guard couldn’t understand how the Apostles got out of jail and were preaching in the Temple again. But out of fear, they went to arrest them again. But this time, they were planning to have the Apostles killed.
A well-respected Pharisee named Gamaliel spoke up and convinced the priestly council to set the Apostles free and leave them alone. He told of two other incidents of men leading people, but eventually it died down. These Apostles have a message similar to the other men, so we should ignore them, and this too will end. But if this was from God, nothing will stop them, and you will not be able to overthrow them. The council agreed, set the Apostles free, and left them alone. The apostles immediately went back to the Temple to teach and preach the message that Jesus is the Messiah!
Here is the main point of this message: If God is in it, nothing can stop it.
Whatever you choose to do, if it is God’s Will, God’s purpose, and God is in it, YOU WILL accomplish it if you do not get discouraged and give up. So, the next thing you do, you need to check, “Is God in this?” The next words you say to someone: “Is God in this?” The next job you are trying to apply for: “Is God in this?” Or the job you are thinking about quitting: “Is God in this?” The spouse you are thinking about being with for the rest of your life: “Is God in this?”
Before King David fought in any battle, the Scripture says he inquired of the Lord. Meaning, he checked to make sure he was doing the right thing and to see if God would be with him in battle. In everything you do, check: “Is God in this?”
Be Blessed!
