God Is Good

James 1:17 (NLT) “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father…

Whether you realize it or not, everything that is good comes from God.  Even when a person bestows kindness on another, that act of kindness comes from God.  Did you know that the Old English spelling of “good” was “god”?  The meaning of good was expanded to mean excellent, valuable, favorable, and beneficial.

Here is something to remember:

  • Psalm 34:8: “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”
  • Psalm 145:9: “The Lord is good to all.”
  • Nahum 1:7: “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble.”
  • Psalm 106:1: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.”
  • Psalm 31:19: “How abundant is your goodness!”
  • 1 Chronicles 16:34: “O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.”

God is Good.  And the more that you remind Him, the more your understanding of His goodness is revealed to youMany times, we focus only on our problems and beg and plead with God for help.  When things are good, we go back to business as usual.  Did you know God loves to hear when you thank Him for the Good things He has done?  When you reflect on the previous miracles God has done for you and begin to thank God for His Goodness, you become grateful.

Psalm 77:11: “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”

Don’t ever forget the good things God has done for you.  In fact, look for the good things instead of things to complain about.  If you are struggling to find what is good, then you need to slow down, take a moment, and think about where you are.  Do you have eyes to see?  Do you have lungs to breathe?  Do you have food to eat?  Do you have clothes to wear?  Do you have transportation?  Do you have a roof over your head?  Do you have a bed to sleep in?  Get my point?

Everything that is Good came from God!  So thank him!

Be Blessed!
