The Pure Word of God

Proverbs 30:5,6 (Amplified) “Every word of God is tested and refined [like silver]; He is a shield to those who trust and take refuge in Him.6 Do not add to His words, or He will reprove you, and you will be found a liar.”

Every parent wants their child to trust and obey what they are told.  Most good parents want the best for their child and would never harm them.  Parents have a responsibility to see the dangers ahead and protect their child.  Usually, a parent will tell their child, “Be careful, don’t talk to strangers, don’t pick up that hot skillet with your bare hand.” All are examples of guiding your child out of danger.  If the child is obedient, they don’t have to understand the details, the laws of thermodynamics, and the guile of bad human behavior.  Trusting their parents’ words is enough to protect them from danger.

That is what God wants from us.  God has inspired, through His Spirit, His Word to be written so we can read, study, and learn.  God’s Word is tested to be true.  God’s Word establishes and accomplishes His Will.   Humans often fill in areas they don’t understand with their own logic or reasoning.  If you don’t understand the Bible when you read it, there is a very simple reason why.  Jesus said I must go so that the Helper may come. When the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all truth.  (John 16:7, 13) The Holy Spirit’s job is to teach you what is written in the Bible.  The Holy Spirit will always point you back to Jesus.

There are many false teachers and false prophets who take portions of Scripture to preach their own agendas that are against the written word of God.

2 Peter 3:15,16 (NLT) “15 And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him— 16 speaking of these things in all his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.”

Peter reminds those who share the same precious faith that some letters Paul wrote may be hard to understand.  He mentions that those who are ignorant twist the words in the letter to mean something different, just as they twist other Scriptures in the Bible.  Their destiny is already prepared.

Decide to ask God to teach you what He wants you to learn as you read His Word.  You don’t have to rush while reading.  At times, the answers will not come immediately.  But be diligent in asking and seeking.  He will answer you.

Be Blessed!
