Miracles, Signs, and Wonders

John 4:48 (NLT) “Jesus asked, “Will you never believe in me unless you see miraculous signs and wonders? “

Jesus asked this scripture near the beginning of his ministry.  Jesus had just returned from a trip through Samaria and returned to the same area where he performed his first miracle of changing water into wine at a wedding.  A government official’s son was very sick, and he begged Jesus to go to his home to heal him.

Here is the big question.  Why would Jesus ask this kind of question when He had only performed one miracle in His ministry?  Apparently, for years I have been reading this scripture with the wrong assumption.  Jesus knew the minds of the people in Cana.  Just as He knew about the Samaritan woman at the well.  Jesus was making a statement of fact:

John 4:48 (Amp)” Unless you see signs and miracles happen, you [people] never will believe (trust, have faith) at all.”

Jesus knew the character of men and women.  Men and Women have the mindset of “show me, and I will believe you.”  We want to see Miracles, Signs, and Wonders!  Jesus wants the opposite; “Believe in me, and I will show you.”  Jesus wants even more than your belief.  He wants your faith. Even though you don’t see miracles now, it doesn’t mean God doesn’t do miracles at all.  He is looking for people who believe and have faith in Him whether they see miracles or not.  Anyone can say the words, “I believe in God.” But do you have faith in Him no matter what the outcome is, even if the outcome isn’t what you expect?

Jesus is not for your entertainment like what you see on the TV Show, “America’s Got Talent.” Miracles, Signs, and Wonders follow those who believe and have faith in Jesus.

Be Blessed!
