Meditate On These Things

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

For those of you who undergo a lot of tribulation, understand that meditating on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report is not an easy task.  Some people even get irritated because they feel that pious people are only saying things to appear holy and righteous.  But here is what most people are thinking: if I’m struggling, having a bad day, and don’t feel good, don’t just tell me, ‘Don’t worry about it, think about good things,’ because that doesn’t help me. I need something stronger and heavier to sustain me and pull me out of my negative mentality.  Here is an example of how to focus on the right things:

  • So what things are true? The Written and Spoken Word of God.
  • What things are noble (having moral character)? Jesus Christ.
  • What things are righteous? God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit
  • What things are lovely? Anything God created.
  • What things are of a good report? Hearing the Good News that your sins are forgiven!
  • What or who is virtuous and praiseworthy? Jesus Christ.

Reading the Bible and meditating on the Scriptures heals your negative mind.

Psalm 34:3,4 (NKJV) “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.  I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”

Changing your mindset is your responsibility.  That is why the enemy attacks your mind with things that are untrue.  The quickest way to shake off a negative mindset is to meditate on God’s word.  You have to push out the negative things and focus on what God says.

Take the time to write down some of the things that bother you the most.  Then ask God to show you a scripture you can meditate on to push out the negative thought.

Be Blessed!
